When an 8-year-old boy was hurt in a car accident on an interstate in Georgia, a police officer went over to comfort him.

WSB-TV reports that another officer, Cpl. Christopher Holly, did something kind and Sgt. Kay Denton took a picture of it at the scene.

The 8-year-old was stuck under a wrecked car. Before she saw Holly interact with the child, Denton was worried about what would happen to him. She wrote, “This child was an eight-year-old black male who was scared to death and had some internal injuries.” Officer got down on the ground with the child, held his head in his hand, and talked to him to calm down.

Holly also found out that the boy’s birthday was the day of the accident.

“At one point the child reached over and patted the officer on the head and then played with the officer’s hair!” Dwight wrote.

At the end, she wrote, “THIS is why I’m a police officer: to help people and be there for them no matter what, no matter what skin color! Because of all the “anti-police” propaganda, “bad cop” stories, and “racial” stories in the news, I wanted to share THIS.

WSB-TV says that Officer Holly has been with the Commerce Police Department since 2013.
