Georgia’s Marietta A young person’s life was tragically cut short in a catastrophic vehicle incident on Monday. Liv Teverino, a popular junior at Marietta High School, was tragically killed when her 2016 Volvo XC90 caught fire after hitting a tree on Burnt Hickory Road close to Devonwood Trail. Although the fire had already completely destroyed the car, the authorities were quick to react.

Beyond simply being a student, Liv Teverino was a leader, an inspiration to her community, and a person of passion and commitment. “Liv was a scholar, athlete, and community leader,” Marietta Police Department Superintendent Grant Rivera said in honor of her exceptional attributes. She embodies passion and determination as a member of our state-champion cross-country team and the MHS International Baccalaureate Program. Like everything she did, Liv was exceptional and left a lasting legacy.”

She demonstrated her leadership and influence outside of the classroom when she was chosen to be a member of this year’s Cobb Youth Leadership cohort, demonstrating her commitment outside the classroom.

Liv’s generosity and love are remembered by friends and classmates as the Marietta community struggles with her passing. Her close friend Isaac Phillips said she was a someone who lived life to the fullest, led by faith, and touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her with her goodness.

As a memorial to Liv’s vivacious character, her friends have left flowers and poignant comments at the crash scene, many of them in her favorite color, yellow.

Family friend Carla Manuel summed up the feelings of many when she called Liv “a sweet girl” who was loved by everyone. She emphasized Liv’s commitment to her faith and her constant readiness to help those in need.

This tragedy has had a profound impact on the teachers, parents, and students of Marietta High School. In a letter to families, the school system urged parents to help their kids through this trying period. The letter highlighted Liv’s remarkable accomplishments and her kindness toward everyone she encountered.

Liv Teverino’s memory will always be an inspiration and a monument to the strength of kindness and leadership in young hearts, even as the Marietta community grieves her passing.
