When a contractor arrives to fix a leaky roof, he is horrified by what he finds.

After a mother in Missouri made a fervent need for assistance, a generous stranger came through big time.

When Joanna Wiley realized her 3-year-old daughter’s bed was immediately above a leak in the roof, she decided to try fixing it herself. But when she tried, she tripped and fell from a ladder into her front porch.

Wiley reportedly had a catastrophic brain damage in the fall, per KTVI. Her physicians informed her that she also had thyroid cancer while she was receiving treatment for the injuries.

The mother posted a video to her Facebook page pleading for assistance in replacing her roof since she was in need of assistance and was having health problems.

It was not until over half a year had gone by that she received an update regarding her roof.

When Edward Aguado of Hillsboro, Missouri’s Edwards Roofing and Repair arrived at her house, he was prepared to assist.

“I was like: ‘Who is this Ed, what does he want?'” “At first I thought it was a scam,” Wiley recounted.

She quickly came to understand that Aguado was genuinely trying to assist her and that it wasn’t a hoax.

After seeing Wiley’s video, which he had seen through a friend, Aguado realized he had to go and lend a hand.

As she was sitting there, observing the water seeping into her daughter’s room, my sales partner Matt and I went up there, boarded it up, tapped it, and 3 days later I had a new roof on her house,” Aguado said.

Wiley received the new decking and felt from Aguado’s company. Lowe’s offered a discount on the remaining items, while Certainteed provided the shingles. The roof was valued at roughly $10,000 in total.

Aguado’s kindness astounded Wiley, who expressed her gratitude at having her home return to normal.

“I want to thank you,” she said, hugging him tightly and shedding tears. “Handshakes are inappropriate. Really, don’t worry about the rain.”

According to Aguado, “It makes it 100 percent worth it.” It’s good that we did it. I wanted to help, and I was in a position to help. That was truly all there was to it.”

On Facebook, readers discussed the heartwarming tale with one another.

“I appreciate Edward Roofing’s kindness,” a reader wrote. “I still believe there are lots of good people in this country and you have just reaffirmed that!!!”

“Bless you for caring and kindness toward another human having extreme difficulties,” a another commenter remarked. In lieu of all this hate and devastation, I think it would be lovely if these hatemongers would consider the things that actually need to be mended and reach out. That way, kindness might be extended in numerous ways, and it would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps after some time, we could restore the greatness of our nation for all people.”
