A man who assaulted a police officer in the face was taken down by a New York police K-9, as seen on camera.
Newburgh resident Randy Martinez, 23, claimed that when he and a buddy were leaving their house, a man—later identified as 31-year-old Tony Mann—walked onto his driveway and made knife-wielding threats.
“Oh, God, no,” Martinez said to the Times Herald-Record as he pulled out his knife. I was about to tell him he couldn’t be on my property when this happened. “What will transpire?”He continued by saying that his loved ones were still inside the house when he contacted the police because he was “so scared,” and that he had already begun documenting the scene when they got there.
An officer can be seen in the video attempting to speak with Mann, who then made odd motions before striking Newburgh police officer Roman Scuadroni. After a brief pause, Scuadroni opened the door of his patrol cruiser and released Lee, his K-9 partner.
Scuadroni threw his arms over Mann’s neck to hold him, but Lee leapt upon him and chomped down on his arm. In the end, Mann was thrown to the ground.
Meanwhile, Lee remained on Mann while another officer showed up to assist with the arrest. Scuardroni eventually managed to pull Lee off, sustaining only minor scratches and injuries.
Mann was transported to the emergency hospital to receive treatment for a minor dog bite, and investigators reported that they discovered a folding knife on him.
In addition to second-degree menacing, he was accused of trespassing, resisting arrest, third-degree assault, and impeding governmental administration.
