Melvin Harris, the father, 41, entered a manslaughter plea.
In 2018, the father from Phoenix, who insisted he killed a man to protect his daughter, was first accused with second-degree murder.
On August 2, 2018, after Harris arrived at the QT near 19th and Dunlap avenues, the event took place. When his daughter went out, she reported that a man had tried to enter her locked cubicle in the women’s bathroom.
The man was led out by security, and Harris’s daughter recognized him. Harris declared he would handle things on his own as he walked up to the security guy.
Witnesses claim that Harris struck Leon Armstrong in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. He continued to beat him before leaving.
Armstrong passed just a few days after suffering a serious head injury.
The date of Harris’ sentencing is set for December 13.
