Due to the teacher’s remark about the boy’s arithmetic assignment, a father launched a petition to have the teacher fired.
When Chris Piland, the child’s father, saw the teacher’s comments on his test, he was horrified. Kamdyn, his son, received severe criticism for his endeavors.
The second graders, or year 3 kids, were given a job by the teacher to complete as many subtraction problems from a list of 600 as they could in three minutes.
The teacher had wrote, “Absolutely pathetic he answered 13 in 3 min!” on his son’s test. Sad” with a drawing of a dejected face next to it.
Piland, a Pennsylvania resident, was so offended by the teacher’s remark that he chose to start a petition to have her fired. The petition has collected almost 15,000 signatures.
With the description, “My son Kamdyn’s teacher has been so rude to him and myself all year,” he shared a picture of the homework. I’m very angry that someone would write this on a child’s work when he brings it home. Such great motivation.”
Chris’s web post stated that the issue was being looked into by the school board.
“Thanks to all the efforts and support of the dedicated people who signed and shared this petition, I’m happy to announce that the teacher in question is currently being investigated by the Valley View school board,” he said.
People were taken aback by the teacher’s behavior. Remarkers said:
“I don’t even have a child and this is terrible to me. This is completely incorrect and incredibly unprofessional.”
“No teacher has the right to write such awful comments on a young child’s work.”
Rose Minniti, the superintendent of schools, stated: “Social media won’t control the outcome of this; it’s a personnel matter. It will be determined by the evidence and facts. We will attempt to act in the best interests of the students and the employee who is the subject of the investigation, as we always do.”
