Seven beloved gospel family members of the Nelons perished in a horrific plane disaster. The victims were Amber’s husband, Nathan Kistler, and parents Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark.
Melanie Hodges, a family worker; and Larry Haynie, a pilot, and his spouse. Autumn Nelon Streetman, the lone survivor, thanked everyone in a poignant message that she received while she wasn’t on the plane for their prayers and support.
The Nelons’ plane crashed in Wyoming while they were their route to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise. Witnesses observed the plane burst into flames and fall to the earth. Emergency personnel did their best, but none made it out alive.
The Nelons, who were recognized for their influence on gospel music with hits including “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016. The collision will be looked into by the National Transportation Safety Board. See down for more information.
