With destructive winds reaching 100 mph, Hurricane Milton is doing havoc on Florida. Pedro Casares of Orlando took an extreme precaution to safeguard his house.
Pedro attached six big yellow straps from the top of his one-story house to the ground in a widely shared photo from Spectrum Bay News 9, sparking online laughter and appreciation.
“Everyone is laughing now, but this man will be a legend,” jokingly said one user.
Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that 19 tornadoes were produced by the storm, which has claimed two lives. Disney World and other theme parks are still shuttered, and losses could total $200 million.
As the extent of the hurricane’s destruction is determined, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor asked locals to remain inside. The US National Hurricane Center warned of the deceptive calm during the eye of the storm.
