Hunter’s truck veered off the road and struck a post at 75 mph when Arika Stovall and her boyfriend were inside.
According to Arika, it ought to have “sliced our bodies in two.”
Arika was certain they were going to perish just before impact. But, Arika recounted, Hunter “did exactly what he needed to do at the last minute to make sure my life didn’t end.”
“God helped Hunter to respond exactly the way he did behind the wheel, guiding the truck exactly where he should have to be able to avoid smashing head-on into the pillar,” Arika said on Facebook, recounting the incident. God doesn’t throw protection around like that for no reason. He does it because he’s not finished with us.”
Arika, trapped in the wrecked truck, glanced around and started to scream. Hunter’s head was smashed through the windshield, and the driver’s seat was vacant. He was unconscious and covered in blood.
“There was a man — bright with a big white beard,” she wrote after gazing out the truck’s window. This dude is the only car in sight. He served as my angel of protection. He informed me that an ambulance was on its way as soon as he saw me.
“I realized at that very moment that Hunter was secure in my presence. I was able to avoid seeing Hunter being ripped out of the vehicle by focusing on him for a little while. I think I would have had a heart attack if I had seen that,” she wrote.
After the man left, Arika blinked, revealing a floodlight blazing directly into her face. It was the paramedics.
“This is the miracle part: only a few stitches in my knee and Hunter’s face, no internal damage, no broken bones, and concussions that didn’t even last 24 hours,” she wrote. “Just a truck that looks like it’s been through a tree grinder and an accident where paramedics wonder how we didn’t die instantly.”
Less than 48 hours after their hospital discharge, they went back to the collision site and discovered Hunter’s Bible “open, with a page marked with scripture telling us to not be afraid; Jesus is with us,” she added.
“The presence of God in this whole situation is astounding to me. He is directly mentioned in every aspect of this event we had. I’m in awe. I’m completely overwhelmed by God’s presence, grateful that he sent me an angel, and grateful for Hunter’s second opportunity at life, as well as his recovery and well-being,” she added.
“I’m praying for you all tonight,” she added. I want everyone to understand God’s strength and love. that’s obvious that He has a purpose for you, and nothing—not even a car accident like this one—will alter that. I pray that this will give everyone a glimpse of God’s faithfulness. He’s good, and at work. Moreover, his ambitions for you and your life are unabated.
“It’s God’s doing, good or evil. His plans are coming to fruition. His dominion is on the horizon. Accept life’s challenges and pleasures! Our survival is undoubtedly a miracle, but more than that, it is only God’s plan for us. We are really appreciative of this wreck,” she wrote at the end of her message. “We are fortunate to be alright. And incredibly devoted to the wonderful God we worship.
