After saving eight Labrador puppies down the drain, firefighters discover they are not dogs at all.

Animal rescue can be very stressful and challenging.

The animal in question may occasionally find itself stranded in an embarrassing situation. In the worst situations, young animals have somehow escaped from their moms and found themselves in incredibly confined areas. Frequently, it can be a tree, and occasionally it’s a thorny bush.

People that are persistent, accurate, and cautious are essential in these unpleasant situations.

Maybe that explains why firefighters are so successful at rescuing stranded animals.

Fire Captain Brian Vaughan recognized the gravity of the situation when he got an alarm call last week.

Eight small, black puppy dogs were discovered trapped in a drain well. The callers thought that their owners had left a litter of black Labrador puppies in the pipe.

All of the animals had been successfully removed from the drain twenty minutes after the fire department arrived. They were transferred to the Humane Rescue Organization in the Pikes Peak Region after appearing to be unhurt.

People didn’t realize they hadn’t saved any dog puppies until then. The black pups had actually turned into a ball of red.

“No, these are not labradors, they’re foxes,” one of the veterinarians there replied, Vaughan told CBS in Denver.

“No, these are not labradors, they’re foxes,” one of the veterinarians there replied, Vaughan told CBS in Denver.

This litter was discovered in the region around the Rocky Mountains, where foxes are very prevalent.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife District Manager, Travis Sauder, told CBS4 that he is not shocked that the firefighters were called. Not to mention that the foxes were discovered at all.

According to Sauder, “many animals are beginning to give birth to their young at this time of year, and they have them in small dens that are places that we can encounter when we’re recreating in the outdoors like we like to do.”

Sauder said that the foxes will be returned to the pipe in the hopes that their mother will come back to look for them.

In the hopes that the mother is still nearby and can resume her regular responsibilities, these animals will be returned to their original location. We can take children to a licensed rehabilitation facility if the mother is no longer present,” Sauder stated.

It’s always preferable to call an expert to identify the animal in question before attempting to act yourself because misinterpretations like this one involving wildlife are not unusual. Unfortunately, in situations like this one, good intentions can occasionally make matters worse for wild creatures.

Hopefully these fox cubs will be reunited with their mother before too long. Like and SHARE if you love animals of all kinds!
