Felix runs to assist his elderly neighbor who is having difficulty cutting her overgrown yard. As a thank-you gift, she makes him accept an odd, antique box, but when her lawyer calls to demand an urgent appointment, Felix finds herself in serious difficulty.
Felix, a middle-aged single father, sat drowsily in his armchair in his little, somewhat worn living room, half-watching TV. His wife had died in a car accident seven years prior, and the background roar of comedy laughter hardly concealed the loneliness of his everyday existence.
Felix took comfort in his work as a janitor and in rearing Alice, his daughter, who gave him happy moments that reminded him of her mother.A disturbance outside one day drew Felix to the window. He spotted Mrs., his old neighbor.
